Standing high at 14000ft, the Phakonda peak is an ideal trek to introduce oneself to the undeniable allure of standing on the top of a mountain and breathing in the views that can only be witnessed by trekking your way up. Covered in snow and a myriad of bird life early on in the season, the trek makes for a challenging and wholesome outdoor experience for an extended weekend. The trek starts from Shuru village- on the way to Naggar and going past cultural sights like the Shuru temple and the Arjun Gufa, we reach the old village of Banara with its wooden houses made in the Kathgunni style of architecture. The trek is a perfect, well rounded Himalayan adventure for a getaway on an extended weekend. It passes through landscapes that are constantly changing, offers sweeping wide views of snow capped mountains, and gives you a chance to test your fitness on its moderately steep slopes, culminating in standing atop a peak and feeling the rush of a summit.
